| Poverty
is major obstacle in the marriages of poor
girls and boys in Pakistan. The parents are
unable to marry off their daughters due to
undesirable ethics, dowry, lack of resources
and any help forthcoming from the government
of Pakistan. Many parents never see the
desired wedding day of their loved ones and
spend their entire life waiting to come out
of the poverty circle. |
On
Wednesday 23rd of March 2005 Developing Nations
Children Foundation is planning to conduct
mass marriages of over 150 poor and orphaned girls
from all over Pakistan. 34 couples have already
registered their names for the function and the
registration will continue till the night of 20th
of March 2005.
Arrangements
will be made for the marriage function, 25 guests
per family will be allowed
to attend.
Each
girl will be given gifts to the value of Rs.
25,000.00 (£250.00).
DNCF
will also arrange basic entertainment and lunch
for over 8,000 guests.
As
is generally believed marriages are a divine
arrangements and the world only solemnizes the
same. If this so, then why fanfare, the
extravagance and the show off in weddings? Why not
a simple ceremony?
As
the foundation has no intention of harming the
feelings of the beneficiaries, therefore, the
identity of these couples would be kept anonymous
until the day of the wedding.
The
total cost for the entire project is £75,000.00
